Howard Carpendale  -  Laura Jane

Country - Germany     Player- Stefan

You are the one
for you l've waited night and day

You are the one
with you I'll never ever go astray.
You are the one
you are the reason and the rhyme

You are the one
I'm gonna love you 'til the end of time!

und ich fuhr weiter entlang dem Meer;
erzählen an

You are the one
for you l've waited night and day
...
You are the one
for you l've waited night and day
...
You are the one
for you l've waited night and day

An old guest house beside the street
Somewhere in Wales
between sea and land
Over the door the name
"Laura Jane" is found
It was midnight – I’ve got lost

In front of the guest house
I stopped the car
I had seen lights
A woman dressed in white
let me in without a word

I seemed to be the
sole guest that night
She said with a smile:
"I’m Laura Jane"

After dinner I drank wine with her
She laughed and danced with me
And said: "Don’t forget Laura Jane"

You are the one
for you I've waited night and day

You are the one
with you I'll never ever go astray.
You are the one
you are the reason and the rhyme

You are the one
I'm gonna love you 'til the end of time!

Next morning the house was empty
I drove further along the sea
In the next village I stopped for fuelling
Talked with an old man
And started to tell him
about the night before

The seldom night with Laura Jane

The old man became
pale-faced and his breath was strong

He gazed at me and said
„She’s dead for hundred years
forget Laura Jane, forget Laura Jane

You are the one
for you I've waited night and day
...
You are the one
for you I've waited night and day
...
You are the one
for you I've waited night and day

Howard Carpendale (often called Howie) is one of the famous German schlager stars for years even though he was born in South Africa. His whole vita you’ll find at

http://www.carpendale.de/

His came famous for songs about love, made coverversions of “Living next door to Alice”, “Ti amo” etc. Most times his versions was sold better than the original version.

In the eighties (see ESC Estonia!!) we got the “Neue Deutsche Welle (NDW)” with stars like Trio (Da Da Da), Nena (99 Red Ballons) etc.

The traditional Schlager was out. So Howie changed his style, started to compose his own songs – and made one song with English chorus – the one I chosed.

This song is nominated because Howie is back: he is on tour in 2003, very successful. NDW is again in the TOP 10 (Nena’s songs “Wunder geschehn”, “Leuchturm” “Irgendwo, irgendwie, irgendwann”). So I wanted to show the other side of German music with a come back.

Some OSC members recommended to send Modern Talking, Boney M, Nena...

I want to send entrants that you probably don’t know
- and the typical German Schlager you’ll get from Norway.
